Dear Friend,

We are so excited to share our second release with you!

Looking back on the past year, it is amazing to see how this dream of ours has grown, because of you, and everyone who has supported us. We have been moved by every message sent, every bottle shared, and every time our wine has been on your dinner table or at your special occasion.

At the start of the 2018 vintage, we had yet to release our first Mourvèdre, but we knew we needed to have faith in what we were doing and to keep chasing our dream. In the classic hiking sense - it was only another mile (mile-and-a-half), so we kept putting one foot in front of the other. That meant adding a new vineyard to increase the complexity and to keep with our mission to showcase the El Dorado County winegrowing region. The resulting wine is a blend of vineyard sources ranging from 1,360’ to 2,830’ elevation and it strikes a beautiful balance between fruit and spice. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the results.

A big part of the inspiration for our Mourvèdre was drawn from the Bandol region in the South of France, so we planned a week of our honeymoon in 2014 nearby and (little did we know) this would also form the inspiration for our second wine…

Our Chasing the Sunset Rosé was dreamt up while we were laying on the beach in Cassis, overlooking the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. We were in the heart of Provence sipping on a bottle (or three) of rosé each day and partaking in the South African tradition of sundowners. We loved the saline/fruit balance of these wines and the opportunity to pause and reflect on the beauty around us as the sun slipped beneath the horizon. Our 2019 Rosé, sourced from the Veerkamp vineyard in El Dorado County, is a reflection of these moments.

The brace of fresh air hitting our lungs on a crisp morning, the feeling of the sun’s rays falling on our face in the alpenglow, and the smell of pine needles as they crunch under our feet... the mountains are our happy place and we hope that our wines will transport you to your happy place, wherever that may be.

Thank you for joining us on this adventure!

With love and gratitude,
Bertus + Alli
